Laquita has nearly 30 years experience in personal training and fitness, including eleven years as the primary caregiver of an individual with a high level spinal cord injury. Laquita trained under Clinical Exercise Physiologist and former Professor of Kinesiology, Taylor-Kevin Isaacs to aid and assist her son, Aaron Baker, and other high level spinal cord injured clients with their exercise and stretching regiments at the Center of Achievement, California State University, Northridge. In 2007 and 2008, with her son, Laquita organized, directed, executed, and rode in two unprecedented, history making cross country bicycle tours, The Rise Above Tour, which showcased and promoted the benefits and necessity of ongoing therapeutic exercise. Their extraordinary story was presented through public speaking engagements in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, VA hospitals, universities, Assisted Living Centers. Laquita’s expertise and guidance is sought after by injured/chronically ill individuals and their families.
Prior to her son’s injury, Laquita was an international importer, designer, and partner in an exclusive art gallery, Conway of Asia, in Carmel, CA. She traveled throughout Europe and Asia as a buyer/seller of antiques, objet d’art, oriental rugs, and jewelry. With a reputation for a superior artistic flair and eye she was commissioned for home and commercial interior design. She negotiated the largest sales in the history of the gallery and expanded the business by opening two additional galleries on the Monterey Peninsula which increased annual revenue by $8,000,000.00 dollars. Additionally, Laquita handled all marketing and advertising for the firm, directed TV commercials, and created the set design for photo shoots which were placed in international trade publications.
An adept entrepreneur, Laquita is well versed and experienced in all aspects of business management, operations, marketing and expansion.
As a key figure head for all C.O.R.E. facilities, Laquita will maintain, oversee and ensure company philosophy, methodologies, and vision.
